Harry Potter remains immensely popular, and among the most sought after costumes for trick-or-treating and Halloween parties! Kids and adults alike enjoy dressing as a variety of Harry Potter characters, but none is more popular than the Harry Potter quidditch costume! One can dress specifically as Harry, as another beloved character, or simply as themselves as a Quidditch team member, with just a few costume accessories.

As with all costumes, one can buy a costume, or make a costume while augmenting with store bought accessories. The Harry Potter books describe Quidditch uniforms as being a robe in house colors, burgundy and gold, with leather tie at the neck, and crest on the left breast; the uniforms were also presented this way in the original movie. In later films, the uniforms evolved into a multi-piece outfit, with dark pants and shirt, and a padded tunic over top. But the traditional robe is the most common way to dress as a quidditch player. Most purchased costumes do not include the arm pads, gloves and boots, but all players do wear these.

These costumes usually include a quidditch robe, goggles or round glasses, and the Golden Snitch. These costumes usually do not include the brown arm pads, gloves and boots that players wear; you can make a costume, or purchase one, but to be authentic, add these accessories.

Most people dress as Gryffindor, but don’t be limited - you can be a member of any quidditch team, if you are willing to put a little energy into finding the right costume pieces! Following are the basics of the other Hogwarts Quidditch teams:

Slytherin house colors are black and green, thus their classic quidditch uniforms are charcoal gray robes, with dark green trim, black leather tie at the neck, a Slytherin patch, black arm pads, gloves and boots.
Ravenclaw house colors are blue and bronze, thus their uniforms are deep blue with bronze accents, brown leather tie at the neck, a Ravenclaw patch, brown pads, gloves and boots.
Hufflepuff house colors are black and yellow, thus their uniforms are charcoal gray robes, with yellow accents, black leather tie at the neck, a Hufflepuff patch, along with black arm pads, gloves and boots.

Of course, to be a true quidditch player, you need your broom with you during game time.
